Guideline Specifications GORDON EXTRUDED ALUMINUM PAIRED CONTURA SYSTEM DIVISION 09 5400 PART 1 – GENERAL 1.1 RELATED DOCUMENTS A. Drawings and General Provisions of the Contract, including General and Supplementary Conditions and Division 1 Specification Sections apply to this Section. 1.2 SYSTEM DESCRIPTION A. Furnish and install Gordon extruded aluminum Paired Contura System as manufactured by Gordon, Inc. All material and workmanship shall be of the highest quality. Installation shall be in accordance with Gordon detailed instructions and specifications. 1.3 QUALITY ASSURANCE A. Manufacturer: Furnish components from one (1) manufacturer with a minimum of ten (10) years of experience in the fabrication of extruded aluminum ceiling specialties. B. Installer: Firm with no less that three (3) years of successful experience in the installation of systems similar to those required by this project and acceptable to the manufacturer of the system. Product Data: Submit manufacturer’s product specifications, detail drawings and installation instructions for each component required. B. Submission: Must be made within ten (10) working days for the General Contract Award to avoid project delay. If not adhered to, architect will designate exact product to be used and the contractor will have no recourse. C. Manufacturer’s Production Schedule: Subcontract for the work of this section shall be planned to allow sufficient time for manufacturer’s production and delivery. D. Samples: Submit three 12” samples of Paired Contura System in specified height with spacer clips (choose 5/8” or 1-3/8” reveal), and other required hardware. 1.6 WARRANTY A. General: Submit manufacturer’s warranty that materials furnished will perform as specified for a period of not less that one (1) year when installed in accordance with manufacturer’s recommendation. PART 2 - PRODUCTS 2.1 ACCEPTABLE MANUFACTURER A. Furnish and install as noted in the specification as indicated on approved shop drawings. Paired Contura System shall be manufactured by Gordon Interior Specialties Division, Gordon, Inc., 5023 Hazel Jones Rd., (800) 747-8954, Fax (800) 877-8746, sales@gordoninteriors.com, www.gordoninteriors.com . B. The product specified herein is a standard manufactured product of the listed manufacturer. The extruded aluminum system has been carefully selected to produce functional and aesthetic consideration. 2.2 PRODUCT CONSTRUCTION A. Paired Contura System including all splices, connectors and suspension and other accessories as required to provide a complete system 2.3 MATERIALS A. Paired Contura System shall be manufactured of extruded aluminum components in (2”) (4”) (6”) (8”) heights, in straight or custom curved sections. Standard straight sections are 12’-0” long. Lengths of curved sections vary according to custom radii. All extruded components shall be of standard 6063-T52 or 6063-T6 aluminum alloy. B. Optional welded intersections 2.5 FABRICATION A. Provide extruded aluminum Paired Contura System of design, and profile as indicated. B. Provide all parts factory cut straight or curved to specified radius, which is not smaller than factory minimum radii requirements. 2.6 FINISHES D. Factory finishing of Paired Contura System is to be (VX- _____________) color specified on all surfaces. The water borne cross-linked acrylic shall meet all Clean Air Standards, Federal and State, and be USDA approved. PART 3 – EXECUTION 3.1 EXAMINATION A. Examination of surfaces: Installer must examine conditions under which work is to be performed and must notify contractor in writing of unsatisfactory conditions. B. Verify that field measurements and block-out dimensions are as shown on shop drawings. C. Certify that Paired Contura parts coordinate with labeled shop drawings. Stains, discoloration, or other imperfections on finished units are not acceptable. All metal shall be of the highest, commercial-grade type. 3.2 INSTALLATION A. General: Comply with manufacturer’s printed instructions, with governing regulations for Seismic Codes, and with the Ceiling & Interior Systems Construction Association standards applicable to work. E. Install all systems in compliance with ASTM C636-06, with hangers supported only from building structural members. 3.3. CLEANING A. Cleaning of factory-finished parts, if required, should be accomplished with a detergent solution such as TSP-90 or Ivory. B. Before field painting, wipe metal with dry or damp cloth to remove contaminants. Factory finishing is recommended. If field painted, aluminum must be primed. 3.4 PROTECTION A. Procedure: Care should be taken during the remainder of construction to protect the Paired Contura from damage. B. Damage to finished work: Finished units shall be without damage. Damage shall be repaired by the contractor at the expense of the party damaging the material, as in accordance with the contract requirements. 3.5 GENERAL RESPONSIBILITY A. Variation from the specification: Any variation from the specification resulting in additional cost to any other contractor or subcontractor on this project shall be the sole financial responsibility of the contractor for the work of this section 1
